Pigeon Talk

Yes, you most definitely can!! 10 o 12 days is best imo AFTER they get all the crop milk ane you can see some seeds in their crop. They will bond with you. I recently posted a Maney Loft video on Handraising. He handraises most of his to give the parents a rest and to make them super tame. I handraised one out of necessity and it was super fun to do.

Excellent, thank you! At that age are you still feeding them formula?

Not like Kaytee formula, that is a poor substitute for real crop milk imo and not needed at that age. You have 2 options ... I had good results with my special recipe gruel made of flock raiser pellets, warm water and flavored with a dab of peanut butter and a few tblsp of nutritional yeast. I have pics of the little bottle i use with rubber over the top and a slit for the chick to put his beak in. The second way is to feed seeds, grit and water. I'll find the Maney Loft vid on that a post the link again.

I’m glad you mentioned his videos again. I just subscribed to his channel.
They are my newest favs. He posts new content almost daily. He had a real good tip about painting the wire on his breeding boxes black - amazing how much better you can see and photograph the birds vs silver wire!

Sorry didnt see this till now. I havent heard of that. But i know him pretty well so he would get me some bands without being a part of the club. Hes a really good flyer so he got 1st 3rd and 5 and 6 th. My racers are from him :)
How did his birds do?:)And why aren't you at least a social member? My club allows non-racers to join for a small fee, I think it was $15 so they can get bands.

backyard pigeons, post: 20774473, Last clutch, i took the egg to avoid it being chilled and put a dummy in there, then they layed there next egg on the ground and would NOT sit.
Those of you who are looking to get fake eggs. Get them at a craft store. I got them for 1.99 for 6. At hobby lobby.

Something to think about,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The plastic fake eggs I got for my pigeons are same size, and color, and weight of the real McCoys. Craft store eggs are for decoration use. Probably different weight, size, and color. :idunnoPigeons are smart,,,,,, so I believe they knew you pulled a FAST ONE over on them:gig
Possible reason why they laid next one on floor:idunno

That is a good point. Although it was spray painted white, it was slightly smaller. Thanks
