No reds! Just chequered and Barred! Got my rings today too! It caused a bit of confusion though because my annual membership runs out end of February so I tried to sort that at tha same time. I can only renew my membership through the regional secretary not direct with the club, so I phoned the reg sec and it turns out he is retiring and a new guy is in the process of taking over. Several phone calls and a cheque in the post....sorted!

I think you may have misinterpreted that post.

I wish the bird had of returned with wings duct taped together.

In fact what happen was the birds both wings was " AMPUTATED" to the second joint which would be from left to right in this diagram.

The Alula was missing on both wings.

That barbarian interpreted a suggestion by some one for wing clipping.

No actually it was able to gain enough altitude to fly from roof top to roof top about 10+- miles back to my loft. Some one never got the bird back and I actual punched the young man in the face when he tried to claim it.

I was that upset. The bird passed away about a 3 months later.

So glad you punched him in the face!

It makes my " BLOOD BOIL" every time I think of it. The procedure is actually called Pinioned Wing. Apparently it is usually only done to one wing to inhibit flight to one day old birds. I never was aware of it until that one occasion.

I hope I never encounter it again as long as I live.

Are those NPA bands? What type. I might get some off of foys so I need to get the pretty ones all my birds have a gray or dark green band so I need coler. Lol.

And those birds are pretty! But I would get tired of having to wash them so often! I would prob trim them for breeding... and always...

Mine are AU bands but I think @CCUK 's are RPRA.

Yes, I have heard of it. But normally it's done to very young birds. And only one side. I think it's awful.
