Pigeon Talk

No actually it was able to gain enough altitude to fly from roof top to roof top about 10+- miles back to my loft. Some one never got the bird back and I actual punched the young man in the face when he tried to claim it.

I was that upset. The bird passed away about a 3 months later.

A punch well deserved and earned. I applaud you.

I enjoy reading through this thread. I do not have outdoor space, chickens, or a loft, but I do raise smaller birds and will be adopting an old german owl pigeon as a companion bird in the near future. I have been on a pigeon-researching binge for the past couple of weeks and this thread has been very interesting to follow.

:frow howdy and welcome aboard! And thanks for the compliment. The pigeon group on this forum isn’t huge, but we are a ton of fun! And several of them have vast experience and are always willing to helping those of us who are newer.

Beautiful budgie in your profile pic too. :) (I have 3 budgies)

Hello! Welcome to the best thread on byc! Do you have a certain owl picked out of are you looking for one? And that is quite a cute budgie! What other birds do you have?

Thank you. His name is Joey. I have two budgies, two canaries, two Java sparrows and four society finches currently. I used to raise finches, canaries and cockatiels, and also had a few doves, and had upward of forty birds at a time and an aviary for a few years but situations change and I downsized markedly and my birds are all indoors now.

I have not picked out a pigeon yet, but have settled on the breed that most appeals to me as a pet, I have been told Old German Owls have a very docile demeanor and are one of the better pet breeds.

Any breed thats handled enough and properly will be sweet. Get as young as possible without having to hand feed. Keep us posted!

@Pyxis is this you.... every home should have at least one of these or a chicken!

Lol, I love my big dino birds, but they are SO not house pets.

Well, once they get old enough. Ciara did sleep in my bed with me for a bit there  Desi did a couple times too, actually.
