Pigeon Talk

I usually clean and refresh the nest bowls at day 6 or 7 when I band. For some reason the nest poop doesn't dry out and I can't bear the mess. A few more days and they are able to poop over the side of the bowl, so that helps.
You probably already located this vid. He feeds seeds but I still like the pellet/water formula better bc food and water in one with no grit needed. They will be eating seeds on their own within a week anyway. At first I mix some grit in with seeds in a small dish so they are certain to ingest some.

I sure hope they don't suffer much or they will hate me! I'm about to steal eggs#13 and 14...

Agree.

My dog loves them. I hard boiled 10 and might try using 2 instead of plastic eggs.

Almost there! :thumbsup

Lost some of the other quotes so I'll just stop now.:lau
@CCUK - The Boomer babies are looking good!:)

I like that video. Watched it again. I think tonight before bed, I’ll do some small seeds and grit. They aren’t really opening their mouth for me very well yet, but they have definitely accepted me as caretaker. Be still my heart.

Been there, done that!

@backyard pigeons - bath day here too...

@casportpony What are your thoughts on this green poop...

This hen has no signs of illness that I can discern and her poop has been abnormal for many months. It varies from lt brown/beige to various shades of green, this being the greenest. That's a pigeon footprint in the sample. lol Others please feel free to chime in too.:)

Awww! Does Doba get in the bath when the others do?

The green poop is very green! Maybe a lot of peas? It looks like healthy poop, other than the color. :p

I don't have a current loft, haha. I will be building one big loft for all the birds, and might look into a way to set it up so that I can divide it if I want.

So glad you caught the girl fairly easily. So these are 2018 birds?

Oh I was checking to see if anything may have hatched under Shadow and Java yet and noticed an egg had been rolled out of the nest. It was cold. Thank goodness it was an early quitter. Not much real growth at all. So I’m guessing the other should hatch soon, if it’s going to.

Yep :) So they should be ready to breed any time here now, hopefully. He told me they might even mate in the box during shipping. I don't think they did, but I guess that means he believes they are definitely of breeding age.

Well, at least it wasn't healthy. Keep us posted on the other egg though!
