Pigeon Talk

And this is another child from Pebbles and Captain. I’ve washed this bird plenty of times, because why not. It’s a checker as well I’m pretty sure.

The other nasty pigeons kept attacking its head. At least soon the Serbians are going to be in their own loft section after the sections are disinfected and have added perches, nest boxes and ventilation. Pebbles and Captain also had another child who I’m pretty sure was solid red, but it died as it got sick from cocci I think.

My finches have very strong maternal instincts. I normally take their eggs and replace them with fakes or I'd be overrun with chicks. I have a pair and their grown son and daughter all together. The momma finch seems ecstatic her plastic eggs hatched after like three months, no matter how wrong her babies this time look. Fingers crossed they will continue to foster, at least until the canaries are a little older and louder and I can try them with their mom again and see if she will feed them then (as being raised by their own species is going to be better for them learning to be canaries.)
Do they teach them how to sing?
