So on another thread I mentioned one of my hens was missing last night. Today I found out what happened to her. She was hit by a car over at the lumberyard, witnessed by one of the employees. They go there for the grit. They said the car was going very slow so she should have been able to get away, but I have seen my birds expecting cars to yield for them before. At least I know it wasn't a hawk.

Very sad. She was the first to take peanuts from my hand and produced beautiful babies.

I'm so sorry. She's beautiful. I'm assuming you have grit in your loft? I know their weird and think that the roads grit is better, but I'm just making sure.

Ok. Me pigeon is in the house to stay warm and keep blood flowing, which I read helps. She's in the bath now, enjoying watching me. It is slightly warm. Going to add calcium to drinking water, or would it be better to put straight down throat? Any other ideas?

Sorry, I'm not sure what the dose would be - I've actually never dealt with egg binding, so it's out of my area of experience.

I have a question, though. In good news, I put some hay in with the pigeons and the cream yellow bar hen is building a nest But so far it's not a really good nest, lol. Will she shore it up as she gets closer to laying? Or should I add some more hay myself?
