[Quacking Pigeon]

Yeah. I want another tame bird. A conure is my first choice but they are so high as to be mostly out of my price range. I am sort of considering another cockatiel, though at a shop I visited yesterday even they were $250.

Pigeons really can't be beat price wise... Olive was $15 and every bit as loving.

I'm gonna stop by the shop she came from tomorrow to get her more food, not going to get any more pigeons - we tried that with Rowan and I think everyone is more at ease with just the one - but maybe they will have cockatiels or conures... their prices are usually much lower than the big name pet shops.

We have wild cockatiels and budgies here but they are in the more arid parts of Australia. And I think cockatiels can range from $25 or $50+. I haven’t kept parrots in ages. The last type of birds I wanted from the pet store were some king quails or diamond doves I think. How small would the doves bubs be? I’m curious.

Pretty cool read. The last pair mine raised both had the white spot but it's a lot bigger and more obvious on this black spread.

All my current birds have white on them on that area, I haven’t lost any recently. The last birds I lost a bunch of were my Serbian highflyers who are supposed to be good a flying breed, only one of my birds had the white and she was one of my original ones. It’s interesting though as the birds of prey don’t go after my Fantails and rollers as they aren’t the fastest.

I do recall a time I was out looking at the pigeons when I had my crossbreds, and out of nowhere they all duck on the roof as a bird of prey zips over them. Most of my crossbreds being the mutts they were had a range of different colours with most having white specks and stuff. Watching some of my old videos today it hasn’t become apparent that I had some unique looking birds.

In molt my pigeons feathers usually get stuck on the walls and there is a huge massive pile of feathers on the loft floor. Maybe I should start collecting them in case I want to do something artsy with them.

That reminds me, I save mine's flight feathers but didnt know what to do with them. I've taken to giving them away as souvenirs to the various neighbor children that like to knock on the door every so often, seeing the birds in the window and wanting to visit them. There are three girls about 2nd grade age who just love to come over to see the birds. I think my house is like a free zoo trip for them. They really liked the feathers and one was going to take it to show and tell at school for "nature appreciation week."

Great idea Serin. I save my pet turkeys feathers and the neighborhood kids love them. They love her & she loves kids. Let's them pet & hug her. So the kids are thrilled when they get one of her feathers.

I just candled the fantail eggs. Only one is fertile . But for first time parents I think they're doing OK. They are taking it in turns on the nest as they should. Hopefully next time there will be two fertile!
