Pigeon Talk

:frow @CCUK How is everything in North Notts? And is that a new avatar?:gig
Everything's fine. Not much happening really. I've run out of nest bowls so I'm temporarily using the chicken feed bowls! I've had more eggs than you can shake a stick at so they're all swapped out. I'm not looking at breeding any racers just yet. Maybe later in the spring. I'm also thinking about selling the fantails :( I like them but I would quite like some show birds rather than the garden fantails. The archangels have been in and out of the nest but no eggs yet. The second pair I got I believe are both females. I don't really want to buy any more, so I could do with the first pair to get a move on and hopefully a young male will pair up later in the year. Archangels can be notoriously hard to breed. They need to be mostly out of site and left alone. They have a tendancy to abandon eggs.

And if you don'y catch any piggies,,, then you still have a snack for the way home:thumbsup

Serin....those were cute Olive pics. Looks like shes enjoying a nice cozy winter!

She is, especially since she discovered blankets.

We have two little snuggle birds now, since Sweetpea the button quail came along. She was a single chick from my adult pair and bonded to me. She is cute and snuggly too but Olive is in her own league.

Do you have problems with birds trapping? If so, why not use the fantails as droppers? I hope you get some eggs from the starling pair. Oops, I mean those classy looking archangels. ;)

They seem to trap quite well for the best part. I'm waiting for the better weather then I want to let the fantails out. See how they fare! X2 on the eggs. The moment I put nest bowls in with the racers I had eggs, the arcs seem alot more conservative. I'm hoping they are waiting for the better weather too!

I’m flying my pigeons! They seem to love it and make circles around the area I live in, settling on people’s houses. I just hop they come back and that the neighbors don’t get annoyed.
Is this the first time you loft flied them??? Hopefully you let them out hungry,,, they are likely to return sooner. :fl
