Pigeon Talk

It's a pleasure to see your birds again! Is Boomer in there?
Weather is great here today as well, 45°F and sunny, so … bath time!
Yeah, boomer is on the perch with the red ring. He is a singleton again. Both Beau and beauty have left him :( They are both single too! At least they all seem to be behaving, there is no fighting over the girls!

Beautiful pictures! Your racers are nice looking. I was going to ask of They were on real eggs, but you answered my question...
hopefully the starli, archangel lay again soon.

it's beautiful here as well. about a high of 60 degrees. the racers enjoyed a 20 mile fly home... 2 days ago they did a 35 mile toss. They all got to do a loft fly today.

@Serin how is Olive?

Will need to restock my feed within the next couple of weeks and it got me curious about what everyone is paying for feed lately. The last time I picked it up I paid about 21 dollars for Brown's developer. I used to use Lizzie Mae and was getting it for roughly the same price, but it was a much longer drive. So far I'm pleased with the Brown's and will probably stick with it, as I'm not really feeling like driving to Canada for Baden's feed.

I'm still paying $20 or $21 for the no corn mix. The with corn mix is $16. Both are 50 pounds. They are from a local source.

That's a decent price. I used to buy feed at this feed store years ago, and all they had was kaytee baymor. The feed was good and so were the prices, but then it jumped to over 30 dollars a bag and I had to find other cheaper sources. I had gotten tired of driving so far and decided to call them up a few months ago and see what they had, and they apparently switched to browns feed at a much more reasonable price. I'm not even sure if kaytee even makes pigeon feed anymore. As the years pass by it's getting harder and harder to find suppliers of feed in my area...

I pay $25 for a 16% popcorn mix. It is good feed. I then get a $8 bag of wheat and mix in 25 pounds of wheat. So all in all, for 75 pounds of feed, I pay $32 with tax. On exceptionally cold days, I mix in a can of whole corn, which, brings the price down even more.

I hear a lot of people say wheat is the worst for pigeons. Hold up. I Think it is the best grain for pigeons. Just because it's cheap doesn't make it bad. The book, "The Pigeon" is, in my opinion the #1 best written book on pigeons ever. It says that wheat is the best grain for pigeons... and that's when I started feeding more of it. I love wheat!

Wheat is the predominant grain in the mix I buy. :)

I get this for $38 which is a bit more than other folks pay but I have no choice but to buy online. @Old_Strain_Lover their prices are a bit higher on here then you might be used to but the shipping is generally free when its over 40$ and its easy to get coupons.

I mix whole corn into mine as well which I get for pretty cheap and pay 40 something for around 75 pounds of feed. I also mix in a small amount of this "winter rye" the feed store sells for dirt cheap which I have a small bag of that I'd like to be rid of. The pigeons don't particularly love it but they eat it. I tried getting rid of it by putting it out for the wild birds but nothing will eat it. Makes me wonder why they even sell it, it looks like lawn grass seeds.
