Woah dude. You got some show birds there. You selling #1 and #4? Pair those guys together, and you'll get some show birds.

But for real, I will never be able to get to the top if I'm not adding new blood. If you ever get some young with the flat top of the head, horizontal beak, and a shorter body and you are selling, let me know. Banded or not, I would be interested.

Are you a member of the PTCA? You should consider it. Its benefits are access to all club members location and contact info, three newsletters a year, and club bands. Plus, you get to be REALLY cool.

I don't know about selling them, and I also don't know about shipping birds ^^" I don't think mine are banded just because I couldn't get to my old 4H clubs house in time to buy some bands unfortunately, I'm not she has the right size but If she's got any 2021's I'll try to get a few from her : D

Those guys are super pretty! 3/5 of mine are fairly petite (could just be that they're hens I guess) but I wouldn't have thought that the stockier build is standard :O huh, thanks!! : D

Bugsy update, the other egg had quit. Actually looked like it had only barely started developing. I checked it early, then left her alone, but she stayed committed to it until yesterday. The egg was cold at feeding time and she was out mingling. Horrible pic, but best one she would give me lol

And I had the chance to see who made the newest nest. It’s Mikasa, offspring of Duff/Breezy. Mikasa hatched January 2020. Very pretty bird.

Mikasa’s mom - Breezy, she hatched the second pair of the season a few days ago.

You want stocky bodies but still petite. The ideal port is "apple bodied" as the standard calls for, but still short. So you want a bulky chest, with noticeable wing butts. But ideally, the port should be no longer than 8 inches. My best ones are 8 inches, but I hope to get 7 inch long ports with the bulky body.

When I say 8inches long, I measure by placing the bird facing me against my chest, and hold my hand parrelel to the bird. My hand from the wrist to the tip of my fingers is 8 inches, so that's my marker. The tip of my best ports tail meets the tip of my finger. Ideally, it'd should be half an inch shorter.

Good to know!! Thank you so much : D I guess that super chonker I've got can stay, and probably get a girlfriend haha, I would have totally thought they were meant to be fairly thin and petite, more like my roller hens I suppose, but thats good to know!

I've got awesome news: I found a pigeon fancier in my area who has modenas and homers! He hasn't told me what he has available yet but since he breeds them I'm sure he'll be able to sell some eventually! I've got other good news too: I sold some chickens and now I have a free pen that can easily be connected to the first one (I may not do that though since I doubt modenas can be housed with the homers.) The dimensions of these two pens are 6.5' x 6.5' x 6.5' so around 42 square feet of floor space in each pen. Around how many homing pigeons do you think could fit in one pen and how many modenas could fit in the other? How many perches would each pigeon breed need if I were to put the maximum number of birds in each pen? I assume that modenas would need more floor space and less perches since they can't fly well?

I love my homers! They're great birds, easy keepers and good parents.

My 4' by 10' aviary is dirt and I put a layer of gravel over it. The rain washes the poop through and it stays pretty clean. Need to add a fresh layer of gravel once in a while.

If your pen is covered I don't know if that will work for you.
