Pip but no movement - shrink wrapped?

so today should be hatch day did we wake up to any babies out?

Also it's a good idea to have some coconut oil on hand just in case if you notice a pip that looks like it's drying out ,it will keep it moist and give a chick in trouble a chance. Cornstarch or stypix is good in case a chick has a slight umbilical bleed from being to over eager to separate from the egg before the umbilical cord dries up, just a little tidbit for future reference. We are good enablers here and pretty soon you'll be joining us hatch aholics lol.

Those are some really unexpected but awesome tips, thank you! Lucky I'm obsessed with coconut oil so I have tons on hand if I need it! It's still the same day for me here but 10:43pm, no sounds nor movement from my other 5 bubs so I'm starting to get a little anxious... The humidity maintained itself so I decided not to attempt candling tonight, after hearing your story earlier about the chance of killing chicks with a humidity drop from lifting the lid I hummed and harred but decided since it is only day 20 still to just try and be patient. Just because that one chick had pipped doesn't mean they would've all pipped internally is what I'm trying to tell myself... Not sure if it's working but trying none the less! Hopefully they'll give me some sort of sign soon the little buggers! :fl

Hope this isn't a portent of how they will be when they do hatch, some chickens think it's' funny to make you worry it seems like lol.
one trick that helps me when stressing and wanting to help is combine chamomile and mint tea , but be prepared on me it worked in 10 minutes and I actually slept 8 hours straight and woke to hatch in full swing lol.

Imagining them chuckling to themselves about waiting for mum to go to bed and leave them alone to hatch is kind of soothing in a weird way lol XD

But that sounds like some advice I can definitely use right now, I really could go for a cup of tea and I just got some new mint tea bags to try so I guess nows a perfect time! Here's to hoping nature works it's magic overnight in my humble home, I am so eager to hear the peeps of feather babies fill its walls hopefully soon! :wee

I decided to take my tea to the verandah and was greeted by my friendly possum who will now get a late night tomato feast! In other news I can't believe I've never combined these teas before, what a beautiful night time cuppa! Hopefully it helps me catch some zzs and wake up to some bubs! I'll update with any and all news as it comes, see you all on day 21! :)

possums can and will go after eggs and baby chicks, so make sure when they go outside it's predator proof.

Hello...All eggs need to lose enough moisture before hatching or Chicks drown once internally pipped. I've never witnessed a shrink wrapped chick when humidity was too high.
Some will drown once externally pipped though if humidity wasn't correct.
Pictures of air cells would be helpful. If my air cells are not developing as they should I drop humidity a week before hatching and run at 35% a few days. Temp needs to be correct too.

Not willing to risk dropping my humidity atm to snap a pic of the air cells sorry, but according to all the charts and videos I watched throughout they looked to be the appropriate size at each candle. At last candle all I could see was a nice hunk of air cell at the top and a good looking black mass of wiggles at the bottom.

Update: Day 21, it's 6:58am and still no changes.... I'm praying and hoping that changes sooner rather than later. :fl

Has the egg with the hole changed at all?

No changes in any of the bubs, poor little pip must've passed after all. :( Still waiting for any kinda change, during the first 18 days the temps did fluctuate on the low side so I'm hoping it's just that making these bubs come a bit later, although the other little pip has me feeling quite disheartened about that...

one thing that helps if your seeing a lot of temp fluctuation is set the incubator inside like a Styrofoam cooler or wrap a blanket around the bottom and sides
