Good morning! Hope all is well.
I saw Ivy go up into the rafters yesterday, so hauled out the ladder. But, there are no eggs up there at all. I think my oegb bantams are taking a break. Finally! I was worried that there was a stash. I had planned on checking more often, but got ill and with that, I had no strength to even clean like I normally do. So, it's been a few weeks since I last checked.
The other good news, it seems the roosters have settled enough that Rebel is allowed in the run without chaos. I know most is due to hormones and if he'd stay away from Lemon, he'd probably never get in trouble.
I have a question, do you think the oegb bantams are OK to roost in the rafters this winter? There is obviously wind blocks from the roof. So, that's not going to be an issue. I'm just worried, that it's too open and they won't huddle. I can shoo them down everyday, but I will be gone for a little over a week in Feb. Someone will come to check on them once per day, but it won't be at night. So, I'm almost certain they will be in the rafters during that time.
I need to get the winter set up started before it gets too cold and my fingers don't want to cooperate (gloves or no gloves).
How's everyone else?
