Pipd's Peeps!

Incubator hatches are what I call "official" hatches, as they are the only ones I can plan. I've been planning to set some time in early April, so I can have Easter serama chicks (there will probably be a whole thread on this, if you'd like to follow, you are definitely more than welcome to do so). The next hatch will be in early August, that's when the current pullets and cockerels will have their first birthday. That'll be a Tsouloufati hatch. Hoping to eventually transition the Tsouloufates to a 100% naturally brooded state. OK I should NOT have rambled so much. I'm in a constant state ofView attachment 3759379
Tag me in your thread!

You got it! Just one and a half more weeks before I begin full the on preparations. I...may or may not be more excited than I should
It's so crazy exciting though! How can you not be over the top excited about hatching little fluff balls!?!

Thanks pipd! I already (silently) follow the other peeps, but the Svart Hona thread is new to me!

Ah, shoot, I forgot to look for more threads to link, though! Here are a few that are interesting reads or full of pretty pictures:

And a lot of the old Breed Focus Project threads are interesting to look at, though most of them are only a few pages long:

There's something about how you're describing Crash that just fits perfectly with the fact she's a call..don't know how to explain it. She just SOUNDS like a call duck

Yep, she's 100% the call duck experience 🤣

Please, ramble all you'd like! I don't mind at all! For a very long time this thread was just me talking to myself (and Crazy Maisie popping in when she's not busy), so seeing posts from other people here is actually pretty nice. And I like hearing about everyone else's birds and their plans with them, too! 😁

Looking forward to your thread, too! I should be setting my first fertility-check batch (/ Easter hatchalong batch) of silkied Cochin eggs around the time you start your thread :wee

I know, I know! Crazy exciting stuff. Last time I wasn't as excited about setting,

though. Maybe because I didn't know the greatness that awaited me? Or maybe because it was Tsouloufates? While I'll always keep Tsouloufates around, there is almost no uniformity in the landrace, and I really wasn't expecting much. Did the results surprise me? No, not really, I got what I expected. Some good birds, some with (more) faults, some that wouldn't be ideal breeders. This time round, it's going to be serama, so I'm expecting more out of them. Maybe that's the difference

Thank you for those extra links pipd! Thank you for allowing me to ramble! I definitely know the feeling of having a thread where it's pretty much only you talking. The Tsouloufati thread is pretty much only me and TwoCrows talking (not that I'm good about updating it...)! Happy to hear you'll also be setting around that time, maybe you can also do updates on the thread (if you'd like)! I also need to ask...when are you planning to set (I'll butcher the name so) your NN's eggs🤭?

No problem at all! 🙂 I'll have to go look up your Tsouloufati thread! I find them so interesting!

I am also pretty terrible about updating my threads, no worries there

If you're fine with that, sure! Though, you might have to remind me every now and then because sometimes (a lot of times  ) I forget to post updates on things.

Gwenyth! It's spelled kinda weird because it's also meant to reference her strong resemblance to the gweela, otherwise known as the Australian brush-turkey. 🤭 She hasn't started laying yet, so hard to say when exactly I'll hatch from her, but hopefully at some point between now and late June :fl

I have a thread rambling about my silkies and its pretty much just me and TwoCrows as well 🤣 I haven't updated it since I did a hatch-a-long thread back in January.

Thank you! No worries about forgetting to update, I'll definitely post enough reminders, and I'm sure Tink and the others will be doing the same (if they have their own hatches)! I'll try to remember her name from now on (remembered how to spell half of it!), hopefully Gwenyth starts laying soon enough! Australian bush turkeys are sooo cool, their incubation process is so interesting, and their super precocial chicks are so dang special! She has a lovely name for sure!
