Pipping for 24 Hours? Should I help?

I have a duck egg that has been pipping for about 24 hours and is still not out of the egg. Its one of my calls so II am very pleased to get it this far and I do not want to lose it now. What should I do? Should I help it and how would I go about doing this? Please help me!

I had 3 eggs do something similar back in December and I chose to help. Others may not agree but those same birds are some of my most beautiful and are healthy as ever. One was too big for the shell, one was turned sideways in the middle of the egg and the other was a sticky chick and couldn't move. I don't regret my decision and would do it all over again. This article told me everything I needed, hope it can help you too! For dry membranes I use a q-tip or my finger and lightly dampen it which helps tons. Let us know how it goes if you try. Snowy Call Duck hatched this morning on the Bacres Farm! Woo Hoo! I had to help him but he seems to fine and healthy looking! Can not wait to show this little baby already!

He's still wet and not very cute! hahah but I have khakis that hatched on thursday, and they are freaking adorable!

Yea! Congrats! A lot of people seem to help Calls because they apparently have more difficulty hatching. 24 hours from pip to hatch for ducks though is not long at all. Very often, they will take even 48-72 hours. That is normal. I am glad he hatched for you! I love Snowies.
