She was pecked a bit by the other hens and became a house chick. She had 3 other siblings who didn't get pecked at all.

I don't know what happened. I talked him out of moving her, but she kicked the eggs out of the nest and moved to sit on the eggs that were laid by the other girls this morning. She's a young Cochin. They just started laying early this spring. Maybe it's her inexperience, or my husband's noise while building and hanging the new nest box upset her. We'll see what happens, now the new box is ready.
