How's the curled toes chick?
I'm about to go see "Thea" now. I waited to watch for improvement until last night and ended up taping them. She didn't like it at all and it was a very emotional process. I noticed earlier today that she was standing while doing nothing (she would normally be laying down if she wasn't trying to move about). She ends up trying to walk on the tips of her toes. One foot seems to be better than the other. She's still super tiny compared to her flockmate. I have been praying a lot that she is healthy otherwise and will get stronger. The dark chick is a sassy little thing! We're calling it "Marionette" for now......

I set alarms all throughout the night to check on her. I didn't want her to get rolled over and not able to get up. She kind of rolled onto her side right after getting her "shoes" but she's done ok and I haven't found her stuck or anything like that. She does sleep a lot which makes me nervous, I did see her eating and she knows where the water is. I tried to drip water on her beak and let it run down into her mouth and she freaked out and didn't like that a bit. She was very interested in me dripping water into their waterer and had some then. I'd like to give her a boost of vitamins but with her freaking out, I don't want to make things worse for her.

Ok. How did you tape them? I found that using regular tape works well. I just spread their toes out on it and fold the other half over the top of the foot. I was practicing the other day on a healthy chick. I took them off of course. I just was trying other methods. I hope Thea gets better. That's a cute name. Do you have any gamebird feed? I feed the weaker or runtier chicks gamebird feed while they're young. It seems to help. I also give them a hard boiled egg yolk every couple days, and give electrolytes in the water for the first 3 days for the whole clutch. I usually separate the runty chick and the next smallest chick for a week or until the runt catches up. Since you only have the 2 that's unnecessary though. Marionette is a cute name too!

Do you have any nutridrench? Or just plain molasses? How long have the shoes been on? You can probably take them off now. In my experience they have the toes straight in 8 hours. Although after that the chick goes downhill. Hopefully for you she won't. Just nurse her through. Molasses is very helpful, it's pretty nutritious and gives a good energy boost. I've seen it work miracles in weak birds.

I have NutriDrench and put some in their water since she freaks out whenever I try to do a drip on her beak. Unfortunately I don't have any gamebird feed. I have them on ground up (pretty much powdered) Purina Flock Raiser and I'll boil her an egg for this evening. Thank you

Ok. If she's getting some that's good. It's fine about the gamebird. The egg will be good for her. I feed Purina FR too.

I used foam with a sticky side to it as it doesn't take much for it to come off and placed clear medical tape over the top so I was able to see where to trim
