Ohhhh, that's a really good idea. I wish I had some of that. Kinda like one of those stickers? I'll look around for some for the future.I used foam with a sticky side to it as it doesn't take much for it to come off and placed clear medical tape over the top so I was able to see where to trim
Exactly! I got a pack of it from Hobby Lobby. Wal-Mart also carries it along with other places. There are so many uses for that stuff! It helps to keep them from slipping to. I hope it's safe. I didn't even stop to think about it.Ohhhh, that's a really good idea. I wish I had some of that. Kinda like one of those stickers? I'll look around for some for the future.
It's probably fine. I'll get some!!! Thanks for that awesome idea.Exactly! I got a pack of it from Hobby Lobby. Wal-Mart also carries it along with other places. There are so many uses for that stuff! It helps to keep them from slipping to. I hope it's safe. I didn't even stop to think about it.
Aw, I'm so so sorry.Thank you @MGG Things have been very sad here. I lost my precious Thea yesterday. I don't think she ever ate much if anything, in spite of me putting the food right in front of her. She never had a nice stool like her flockmate. The dark chick is so different from sweet little Thea, not that the dark chick isn't sweet. I tried dripping water on her beak and sometimes she would take it, sometimes she'd freak out about it. She was able to walk around, so other than the problems with her feet, I'm guessing there were other problems. Like my precious Raymona, I made certain that Thea felt love. I have been in contact with the seller (she's been AMAZING) but unable to actually talk because I am constantly crying. She has some new hatchers, but it will be a long drive to meet her. The dark chick is really lonely though. So, I probably should make the trip because I can't put just any chick with this tiny Serama. I am still extremely emotional so I don't know if I'll be able to call her tonight or not. "When it rains, it pours".......I hate to complain because things could be worse, but my heart hurts. To go over a year without experiencing a death of any of my birds, to experiencing so much death is taking it's toll on me, but I am doing lots of learning and even more loving. Thank you so much for checking in on me. There are no words to describe how much that means to me. You and a couple others here have been so amazing and in spite of such devastating losses, I don't feel completely alone. Thank you

Idk what the problem is with all of these curled toes chicks dying. It's not your fault at all. Mine die too. Even if she had lived, she probably had an internal issue and may have died later on. I think something with the curled toes chicks genetics is a fatal gene somehow. It doesn't make it hurt any less though. I'm so sorry. You did an incredible job taking care of Thea, and I know she knew she was loved.
How far of a drive is it? It probably would be best to go get some. She sounds like a very good breeder. Be strong for your remains little chick. (Raymona?) She needs some friends. I'm sure she misses Thea too. I get broken up about my birds when they pass too. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm here if you need to just talk. Have a good rest of your evening. Things will get better.![]()
No problem. Ohhh, ok. Oh, haha. We'll see what it turns out to be. 2 and a half hours isn't that bad. When traveling with chicks I like to get one of those big hot hands packets, and wrap it in a thin towel. Then make it into a little cave for the chicks and close the box. I've had good luck with that. How many are you getting?Thank you for your kind words. Raymona is my OEGB pullet that has something going on that started yesterday evening. I, along with others, were thinking she was egg bound, but she is bleeding internally somewhere.
The Serama chick was named Marionette, but I keep calling it Axle, because it's got to be a cockerel. My daughter is keeping faith that it's a pullet, so we'll see. The breeder is about 2.5 hours away. So it's not terrible but that's a long ride back with young chicks.
