I'm so happy to see a success story involving a scalping of a baby chick. I had one, too. These wounds are so awful looking, I think most people simply cull. But you did everything right - kept the wound clean and never let it dry out, so it will heal completely.

My chick has also healed, and is now a six-month old pullet. The only sign that she suffered a scalping is her feathers tend to stick up kind of like Woodstock on the Peanuts comic strip.

My rooster is still around, though. It was my fault I didn't make their playpen more secure so they couldn't stick their tiny heads through the fencing. Live and learn.

She has her skin its bloody i have separated her from everyone and i need to know what to do i cant see her eye so im thinking its gone i am waiting on my hubby to get home so he can help me clean her but what do i use ???

ok this is a long thread and i just read the first part, but..

IM SO SORRY! Same thing happened to my rooster, just he was attacked by other roosters, he was fine, it looked HORRIBLE, dont worry, im sure she'll be fine
