Please help! Overdue duck with no sign of pipping. Warning! Graphic images

Yes the area under the red x..he has receded a lot where it's not so dark..it's that little v shape of lightness..that's normal when moving into position? Thank u soo much for being so helpful and the quick responses!!!

No problem! It's hard when it's the first time you've seen it... and it's hard to explain across a screen, lol...

Yes, sounds normal to me and like s/he is moving into position...

Hey guys... I have some bad news.. I went to check on the baby this morning and the egg had a crack. When I picked him up.. it broke apart!! Needless to say he didn't make it. I'm absolutely heartbroken! Can I post a sort of graphic picture to maybe find out what happened to him..? Looks like he was ready at one point..but it was just too late..

So very sorry! :hugs
In the reply box, click on the + button and a drop down will pop up... click on Spoiler and then upload your pic between those brackets...

I'm not really that good at diagnosing cause of death in eggtopsies, maybe @WVduckchick or @casportpony can help?

Sorry for your loss. Go ahead and post pictures. If you can't figure out how to do a spoiler, just post them and change the title of your thread to include "graphic pictures"

So sorry! Looks to me like that one quit several days ago. Other than the feathers, it looks way under-developed to me.

Maybe you can try again! Its all a learning process, and although it can be hard, it can also be very rewarding!

Can't believe he was like fully developed!! That's the most heartbreaking part..I got him that far..for nothing. Poor baby.

X2

Basic form is there, but definitely underdeveloped... also looks like bacteria got into the egg and is the most likely cause of death... not anything you could have done or controlled considering it was a rescue egg...
