Hi Theresa. Yes 100% is pretty hard to accomplish. There are alot of reasons an egg dosen't hatch. It may not be fertile, the embreo may have problems in developing, and of course the most common problem, our incubators just ain't as good at regulating temp and humidity as a hen.
I'm shooting for about 50%. I'm hoping for more, but if I get 20 baby chicks from the 36 eggs in the incubator I'll be happy. More, of course, is better.
I have read about people getting 80 to 90 percent.
Hey Sweetshoplady, what a beautiful chick. Thank you for your kind words.
The time goes by quicker than you think it will.
I sure hope so.
Chickenranchwife, thank you, we can have a hand holding party.
I'm glad the egg carton worked. Thats what I'm doing. Three batches.... your an pro.
If anyone wants to join our hand holding party please feel free to post your progress or questions in this thread if you wish, and we can all get through this together.
I set the other 18 in this morning. Temps and humidity looked fine. Day 1 has begun.
I've set a countdown meter I have in the chicken toolbar I downloaded. It tells how many hours I have left to wait. Don't know if thats a good thing or bad.
Thanks everyone,
Bob
