(did you forget who this is PC?)

I turned the leaver to the decrease to turn the heat DOWN - and it went UP to 98 - this thing is messing with me BIG time

I am having trouble getting my humidity up.. My temp is perfect, but humidity is only 29-33%. I can't get it up no matter what I try.

You might consider ordering the new Hova Genesis model with
preset temp. I'd loan you one of mine but 2 are out already.

If you lose a batch of eggs because a bator messes up you're gonna
be MAD!!!

1 - Close the vent hole if it is a still air model
2 - Check your hygrometer. It may be bad.
3 - add a wet sock or sponge

And how are you checking humidity, lilshadow? A common thing is that those with the AcuRite with the probe assume the probe reads humidity, too, when it's in the weasel, and it does not. If the unit is outside the bator, the unit is reading the room humidity, not bator humidity. I haven't read all the way through your post, but if you add water, seems like any water would make the humidity go higher than that, unless it's a situation like what I described.

my vent holes are close, and I have a wet sponge in there, but no hygrometer. Can you get those at Lowes?

But, then, how do you know that without a hygrometer?

The humidity is measured by the hygrometer inside the AcuRite so you already have one. Does it have a probe? The probe does not measure humidity. If so, the entire unit does. What model do you have?
