I guess it's just natures way of keeping the weak ones from suffering, huh.

Brahma we had one hatch on Friday that was tiny weak, acted blind,
and wouldn't eat. We hand fed it yogurt with feed mixed in, pumped the
chick water full of vitamins and electrolytes, and patiently kept showing
it how to drink. It's now eating on it's own and running around like a chick
should.

HEY REPOBOB WHAT IS YOUR CHICK STATUS????

That's awesome PC! I would love to try it, but this little guy is clamping his beak shut pretty well

Maybe I will try some yogurt, and see if I can get it down him. I do have some polyvisol here, is it just a few drops in their water? I have one of those little plastic mason jar type waterers.

The first two days were h*ll with the chick. I came so close to euthanizing it
because I didn't want to see my wife and son heartbroken again. We've
gone through this too many times plus we lost the bunny babies too this week.

I literally forced the chicken to eat and drink. That can be tricky. Tap your finger
at the food a lot too. DLHUnicorn reccomended a very good vitamin & mineral
supplement, not polyvisol, not that pv will hurt. I started putting a lot in the water
and we made the bird drink every hour. Today she is half the size as the other
two silkie chicks but just as active. The chick wouldn't even open it's eyes on
Saturday. We may have just lucked out but I like to think we helped.

Thank you CRW.

PC, I'm sorry to hear of your losses

especially losing chicks and baby buns. Thank you for the info, I will give it a try, the least I can do is try for the little fella. What a great guy you are, to put so much energy into a little chick!
