That is a really cool-looking coop and run! I'd love something like that. Get it all painted up and make it look old and worn. Would make for fantastic photographs!

Like everyone else is saying I'd probably work out some sort of removable cover for the lower openings and call it good. The one thing I really think it does need is some roofing. That painted plywood is probably going to work just fine until spring, but you should really consider at least slapping some low cost asphalt shingles on that thing come spring time.

I would say that if it gets cold enough to even need insulation, a few straw bales piled around it would be a quick fix. Especially if the bales were on the north western side.
