well I was talking about the Budgerigar. Most people in the States call them Parakeets.

Really they are green grass parakeets.

There are other type of parakeets, and most will run 150.00 and up per pair.

Those are call Splendid grass parakeets where I come from & are not at all endangered.

Whether an animal is endangered depends on how many wild ones are in it's native habitat not how many are alive. Even though they aren't uncommon in the US and other countries as pets they are considered at risk for being endangered in their native habitat. Although they aren't currently listed on the australian endangered species list.
