Please respond. Is this a boy or girl?

You have helped me out a few times. So I will probably believe you

Ah I wouldn't like to say 100% though!

I have had males that are females and females that are males.

Females with streamers too which I never knew was possible :barnie

Hmm, the top picture is saying male now since 'he' looks like he's got a pretty prominent comb starting. He also seems like he's starting to get hackle feathers, they seem kinda pointed and straight on his neck.

I don't know if others have experienced it but I've found males tend to have a mulberry comb and wattles whereas the female have a darker more black comb and wattles. Of course this depends on the breeding but that happened for me in my Silkies.

He is at a difficult age to know for sure though.
I have 5 silkies and like you stated several of mine have WIDE prominent combs that screams male to me too.

Fur-N-Fowl, what do you think?

Unfortunately I'm saying male at the moment.

His comb and stance look very male-like. He also seems quite a big Silkie for his age which also suggests male.

However, I'm sure others will agree things can change. 'He' may be female. At 2 and a 1/2 months it's a very difficult stage to say for sure.

He still may be too young to show male behaviours but how does he act around any hens you have? Does he have scuffles with the other Silkie males you have? Does he usually stand tall with his neck held high?

You'd have a better idea of what 'he' really is at around 4 months. If you are planning to sell him if he's male, I'd at least keep him till he's that age then post more images around then.

I have also seen of a beak sexing method for Silkies but I'm not sure if or how accurate that is as I've never tried it myself.

Ah yes, the usual case is that the males have the larger/wider combs at a young age.

But of course, sometimes past generation cross breeding and such can alter combs and growth rates.

Why are Silkies so difficult. It'd be so much easier if they were born with male and female rings on their legs :lau

I already have two roosters and one possible rooster I will definitely keep, so three roosters is good for me. I was planning to wait and see if it crows, if he does I will get rid of him sadly. But I do not cull!

I do not cull either!

Luckily where I live we have many people wanting Silkies (and any Chicken in general) so I will always rehome :D

Only time culling is required for us is if it's a last resort such as severe injury or illness that can't be cured.

I see my chickens as pets which have an added bonus of eggs!

Yes, crowing would certify that he is a male, particularly him since he already has male features.
However, if you do still have him at around 4 months, feel free to post more photos of him then and I'll take another look for you :)

I have another confusing predicament. Is this a boy or a girl?
