Please try to worm him with Safeguard. I know you said money is tight, but if he has worms other than round worms, the Wazine will not have gotten them and any nutrition he is eating will be consumed by the worms, and he will continue to lose weight. Sometimes Cayanne pepper, if you have any, in good amounts can be helpful, as it makes a intolerant atmosphere in the gut, but large amounts of worms are often unaffected. If you know anyone with horses or goats, they would probably have some safeguard on hand.
