BS ( Brown Sugar) is about 5months old Chinese bantam. She has a healthy looking red comb/wattle with bright alert eyes and normal poops. BUT her wings droop, she stoped eating except for a little mashed banana (she is very thin), she is now unbalanced and just stays in one spot. Vent looks healthy. She has been going down for about 7days slowly getting worse. Today she started the occasional gape and churp noise. She is separate from the other girls. I have searched the net and found nothing that matches.

Do you have or had Mareks in your flock? Could she have a vitamin deficiency, or perhaps gotten in to something bad to eat? There are other problems that cause neurological symptoms, such as botulism, spirochetosis, lead poisoning, and others. It is late to do a molasses or epsom salt flush if it was poisoning if she's been like this for a week.

~~I only had five girls from various sources. The symptoms she displayed started to match Mareks - head at odd angles, splayed legs (She still ate mashed banana with sesame seeds!).Than her sister started with similar symptoms.~~ They were only about three to four months old Very sadly both girls are no longer here. The other 3 may have been vaccinated or they are carriers. The girls forage the garden all day and we were being visited by many doves/pigeons, this may have been the culprit. Thank you for your suggestion's I will look them up. I just feel very sad.

Sorry to hear that you have dealing with Mareks. It does sound as though she has the symptoms. In the future, make sure they are all vaccinated as day olds. You can buy the vaccine online at jefferspetsupply.com, and then isolate the chicks for a week while they become immune. There are several goo threads on BYC about Mareks if you wish to ask questions.
