What is the difference between Stukel and GSBR? Some of you have both so what are the selling points of each

I got mine for a very specific reason, not really going to breed just GSBR.

They are just beautiful Kathy. They seem to have better legs than the GSBR.

What exactly are you seeing to say that? I am just trying to learn. I don't see it myself but I never looked at legs that hard.

My roo was ALL legs when he was a chick, has great yellow legs (he is under fluorescent lights so they look off in the pictures I posted) , that is one thing I LOVE about him. And the nice barring he has.

I think the main thing I kept hearing from others was about the tail set on the Stukels being better generally than on the GSBRs, something about the GS's being too horizontal/flat. Honestly, I've seen yellow legs on both, so that wouldn't be my main issue with either. The Stukels I have start out less yellow, it seems, and brighten up as they get older. At least, that's my limited experience. I've seen some very pale legs on many Rocks with precise barring, and it should NOT be dependent on feed, either, if it's a breed trait, IMO. The Stukel Rocks do have yellow legs, not whitish legs, certainly.

With so few truly great lines of heritage Barred Rocks in this world, I think these are both wonderful lines. I wouldn't say much negative about either! Compared to hatchery stock, or what is trying to pass for a Barred Rock these days, both lines are far and away superior! There's nothing much more beautiful than an excellent quality Barred Rock, is there?

ETA: Back when I got the hatching eggs, I found out that, 30+ years ago, Marvin Stukel's Barred Rocks came from the same guy that Reece got his from so the GSBRs and the Stukel's share a similar heritage.

The Good Shepherd Barred Rocks are larger, wider broader, and heavier; the heads are larger, and their legs are set further apart. They both have equally yellow legs. The Stukel males have a better tail angle than most of the Good Shepherd males. The barring on the Stukel birds might be a tad bit crisper.

Kathy, William said the same thing, that the barring on the Stukels was crisper and the tails were better. I will say that the Stukel cockerels are very gangly until they hit about a year old, so they take even longer than any others I've seen to truly fill out to their full potential.

I believe it's also what someone told me a couple of years ago about both of these great lines, that the lines diverged after they started out from where Reese got his, one toward production/meat and one toward show. They are both stunning birds, though, and I doubt you could go wrong with either or both together.

Please continue to be patient, and yeah, I know it is hard. For quick eggs? Sexlinks! LOL.
These GS pullets are now 28 weeks and they don't look particularly ready, do they. Slow food is quality food, at least that's what they say.
