Plymouth Rocks all dying- eyes closed, droopy head, very sick

I only have 10 chickens- and am thinking I need to find them a new home for a while until I can thoroughly clean out their pen.
So strange- nothing new happened whats so ever- dont know where this disease could come from as we live remotely. Very sad.

Before you do all that, can you try and find a poultry lab where you can get a necropsy? If it is something like mold in the food, or coccidiosis that can be treated with amprollium/coxoid, it would be a simple fix. Your regional agricultural person should be able to answer questions and make suggestions about how to proceed. Ask people where you buy supplies or feed. If you have a Ministry of Health, check with them. You could rehome chickens and clean and still have the problem.

I have dealt with moldy feed before, especially in warm weather. Look for a chemical odor or blue-green mold in feed or grains. All it takes is to get a little rain or condensation in a can of feed, and pretty soon there is mold. Mold poisoning is similar to other types of poisoning, where there can be sudden illness and neurological signs.
I hope you get some answers.

I'm sorry for your loss. Can I ask what state you're in? The best way to get an accurate diagnosis is a necropsy at a state lab, unless you can take one to a vet. Many chicken illnesses have similar symptoms, but when they die rapidly it's definitely concerning.

The OP is in Australia.

Oh my gosh, I apologize. I even looked for a location and somehow missed it. I would definitely put the others in a clean pen and sanitize the one they were in along with all boots, tools, feeders, etc. In addition to the the possibility of poisoning perhaps the Plymouths were not as robust in their ability to fight off an immune challenge. Fingers crossed for the others.
