She is at least a polish mix. Her topknot is small but large enough to hang over her eyes just a bit. Since she only has the one good eye I am adamant that she be able to use it thoroughly.

Here she is as a baby after I got her away from her first mama. You can sort of see the poof on the head. Her back was badly pecked. She had what seemed like wry neck so I had to keep helping her turn her head back over so she could function. Eventually her neck muscles got stronger and now she turns her head a lot in order to view from the one good eye but not completely over. Here second mama is one of my dearest hens. She will take on any baby I give her when she has some of her own. She stays the longest with her babies and seems to just love being a mama. She will sit patiently next to broodies just waiting to help with the hatchlings. She is an amazing girl. Woodstock, this hen, is where the polish gene first started showing up in my flock' offspring and has come more and more pronounced through the years.

I named her after Woodstock, the little bird in Charlie Brown, because as a baby she had that poof. I didnt know what it was at that time but soon learned that it was due to a polish gene.
