Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine arent seeming to grow that fast. I just trimmed Little One tonight. She only has sight in one eye so it is necessary for her to be able to use it fully. Her mama nearly pecked her to death but I intervened, doctored her up and gave her to another hen for mothering. I was surprised she survived. Here is an action shot of her.

yep all u need is a blue bird if it's dark blue then u wont get as many blue babies if it's a light blue then u will likely get part dark blue part like blue ur ratio of blues will be higher !! I love bcb. So if we frizzle it I'm calling that a Pegasus ahahahaa
awesome! I will put my bcb frizzle hens with my bcw roo next spring and see what I get!

Wow, what a great adoptive Mama! Was she also a Polish or a different breed? @Lobzi
She is at least a polish mix. Her topknot is small but large enough to hang over her eyes just a bit. Since she only has the one good eye I am adamant that she be able to use it thoroughly.
Here she is as a baby after I got her away from her first mama. You can sort of see the poof on the head. Her back was badly pecked. She had what seemed like wry neck so I had to keep helping her turn her head back over so she could function. Eventually her neck muscles got stronger and now she turns her head a lot in order to view from the one good eye but not completely over. Here second mama is one of my dearest hens. She will take on any baby I give her when she has some of her own. She stays the longest with her babies and seems to just love being a mama. She will sit patiently next to broodies just waiting to help with the hatchlings. She is an amazing girl. Woodstock, this hen, is where the polish gene first started showing up in my flock' offspring and has come more and more pronounced through the years.
Woodstock on her brood

I named her after Woodstock, the little bird in Charlie Brown, because as a baby she had that poof. I didnt know what it was at that time but soon learned that it was due to a polish gene.

what am awesome bird!!! I love a good broody!

Woodstock is the best. I love her so much. She has these giant flapper feathers on her feet that keep her from easily gliding along. She trips and hops a lot but she manages. She was in the coop looking for eggs to brood and talking up a storm to me while I was cleaning. I had to give her boyfriend away so now she may not have fertile eggs but that wont stop her. She will just brood another's eggs or any chicks I offer her.

So...I know this is a polish forum but I had to show ya'll my new babies!!!

A pair of juvenile Red Goldens will be spending the winter in my big tractor that I converted into a mini Aviary till I build a bigger one next spring!

Salt (pic2) & Pepper (pic3) an assumed pair of Frillback Pigeons... "he" is not as frilly but still beautiful none the less! I'm keeping them in a lg bob white cage right now but bringing them inside to let them fly daily and gonna build a Pigeon pen in my barn loft that's 5x8x11! I'm such a bird nut!!!! Hope you guys enjoyed this divergence from the subject matter...LOL

Thanks!!! I can't wait either!!! He is going thru a molt right now and I can already see some red coming in !!! but we won't have full color till next fall

The pictures of the pigeons don't do their color justice cause what looks like black spots are really purple and green!
