Politically exhausted.

I read papers. Otherwise, it's Netflix and Food Network. I don't even care to hear what Oprah thinks I should own...

BYC, chickens, cooking, gardening and soccer practice has pretty much canceled my TV time. There are just not enough hours in the day for TV. I do here it as background noise when passing through the living room, but it's always on cartoons or the Wii, dang kids.

Would be my permanent position in the Oval Office... I'm entirely too paranoid to be a targe... err figurehead.

Ohh just thinking of that gave me the willies.

I don't expect perfection, and I don't expect to agree with every single point... we're different people, raised different, different lives... of COURSE we aren't going to agree on everything... but I don't think being honest about how you've performed your job when you're asking for your contract to be renewed is really asking too much...

I'm just glad they don't bother blasting the airwaves with all this stuff... at least I haven't heard any of it... well and if they do we've got CDs, Ipods, Online Playlists, etc as backup...

Ohhh for those who don't pay for TV... and have decent internet... hulu.com has free movies... and TV shows... and of course some stations, like Cartoon Network, you can check online and their site lets you watch for free. Of course there are the typical laundry soap and maxi pad ads to deal with... but I'd WAY rather those than the mudslinging that comes on every five minutes.

Very cool. I donno if it's that easy here... but I'm definitely going to check now!

And, if so, I'll be sharing the link so others can check theirs! Thanks for pointing that way!

Edit... went to state, search led to county's site, which then lead to Sec of State's site...
FAQ there leads to the "What's on the Ballot" page... where you can see a list...
http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/candidates/general/2010gensbs.shtml
But it's ALL of them through the whole state... you still have to know your district numbers and whatnot.

So, a nice list true, but not idiot proof... you could easily think you're poda choose between X & Y in District 2 and then get to your polling place to find that YOUR candidates are A & B because you're really in District 1... and you didn't research those guys at all, so you just vote randomly, by color, or not at all...

Going to do more hunting... see if I can get something better... maybe step by step...

Okay... what ya gotta do if you're in Texas... go to http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/
Type
in your address, Show All Districts... Enter.

Then it'll show everyone that represents you... this is what I got...

So, I'll know that I need to check to see who, if any, from this list is coming up for renewal... TEXAS US Senators, US Rep District 6, State Senator District 10, Texas Rep District 94, and Education District 11

Definitely something to be written down... so you don't research US Reps in 10, Texas Reps in 11, State Senate in 94 and Education #6... bluh, no wonder people think it's too much work/too confusing to bother with... just show up and vote blue or red...

I dont get phone calls anymore. I am just inundated with TV ads, and it is making me nuts. Do these people really they can influence the vote with those ads?

Absolutely they can. That's why the candidate with the most money almost always wins. The majority of people vote based on what they see in a 30 second commercial. I've had to listen to the chiller channel ever since the commercials started.

The guy running for mayor here makes humorous commercials and refuses to do the bashing commercials like everyone else. Never seen them but I have heard them.

I wish I could get the wife to let me cut the TV off. It would save 75.00 a month. The only show I sort of like is Big Love on HBO. I also like Bill Mahr but I could easily live without either of them. The network shows drive me crazy with all the commercials. We have DVR but you still have to fast forward through.
