Pompom Duck has her eyes infected

She looks like someone stuck a cotton ball to her head!

Maybe Iris needs to be kept in a separate area, so she doesn't do this. Stopping antibiotics early is worse than not taking any at all!
Guess why her name is PomPom Duck! - And why she is a bit crazy…

I am sure that if i keep Iris separate from the flock for more than a couple of hours she would starve herself to death! She is so integrated into her group; Same with PomPom.
And i simply don't have a way to separate ducks from each other without them cooperating. Like when they have ducklings.
No worries, Iris will have her oral antibiotic dose this evening, as always and also her dose of eye drops and ointment. The evening treatment is always the most important one as the ducks go to sleep shortly after and have no means to wash anything out of their eyes.

I don't know how you do it! My 6 are contained in a smaller area, and I still have a heck of a time catching them and treating them!

Pom Pom is such a pretty duck!

I agree with CW. Might want to keep them inside until the infection is gone.
Both ducks inside 24x7?!?!

Pompom was easy today, she was so disorientated i just grabbed her with two long kitchen prongs, held her away from me and sat her down in the laundry basket… 😉

Picking up Iris is not a big deal either, as she still cannot see well on her left side.

Second dose of medication for Pompom Duck for today.
I think she is a cross between a slime-eel, a snake and a snapping turtle! So much fighting! I tried to wrap her as a burrito, she slid out. Wrapped the burrito diagonal - she slid out. Folded the towel and wrapped her crosswise, she could not slide out but began to unwrap the towel to break free. All with loud screeching, flailing, flapping and biting into everything including my fingers. I think i have to set up a camera next time, this is epic!
And all futile, she got the eyedrops and the ointment.
She even bit into the cat-food container and shook it violently, throwing everything on the floor! But she drank plenty of water and pooped. :sick

Now she is back in the basket and wheezing. 😲 I am not sure if that is due to an infection, or because she is so agitated or if that is just normal for this crazy duck. The curse of the crest! Video is uploading...
