Pompom Duck has her eyes infected

Update on PomPom and Iris Duck:
Iris spent the whole day with the flock on and around the pond, i saw her bathing and preening for the first time since at least 10 days. 😊

Pompom was fighting the towels in the laundry basket until about 3:30pm when, after a short fight with me over medication for her eyes i set her free at the pond where she immediately stumbled into the water and told her sister Pinball what a jerk i am. 😳

Myself i needed some exercise after enduring a grumpy patient for over six hours who was screeching at me the whole day, so i started to cut down sycamore-trees in my fence-post forest, made it to nine today.…

In the evening i tried to pick up Iris but she saw me and from then on always turned her right side (with the good eye) to me. Went back into the house "to prepare the duck soup" and snuck out of the back door and surprised her. She saw me in the very last moment scare-quacked but stayed calm when i picked her up. She swallowed her antibiotics tablet and endured the eye drops like a pro. Her right eye is almost clear, just a slight haze at the back. Her right eye still looks white, but a little less blurred than yesterday. I hope i am not seeing what i want to see!

Tomorrow is another day, if Iris runs out with her sisters, i will let her go, but will try again to pick her up in the evening for eyedrops and antibiotiocs. Depending on how Pompom is doing i will take her inside with me again. The duck-tape is already on my desk… 😉

Today's Update: I could neither spot Iris this morning, nor on the pond when i returned PomPom to the flock. She is completely blending in. Will see in the evening if i can insert one last dose of antibiotics into her bill…
Pompom has gotten worse over night. 😟 This morning she did not see me coming into the duck-house to pick her up, only when she felt my hands she started fighting. Both eyes were cloudy - no, milky, so i have started with applying oral antibiotics to her too. Needless to say she absolutely disliked this! Terramycin and eye-drops applied directly to her eyes and i'm thinking of buying a kill-cone! - No, not to butcher her, but to somehow contain her during treatment! Where i am not sure if she wouldn't find a way out of there too…
She is an absolutely mad duck!

Did you wrap her like a burrito? snug? I hope you can get her treated poor thing.
I tried everything: Placing a towel with a short end to the right, long end to the left on my lap, Setting the duck down on the towel, folding the short end over the duck then rolling her over, wrapping the long end of the towel around to form a burrito. - Ended up with a duck on the floor blindly running back and forth, smashing into everything.
Next attempt: placing the towel mid on my lap, forcing the duck to sit down in middle of the towel and wrapping her from two sides - she slid out before i could fold the left side over her re-arranging everything on my desk with her wings.
Third attempt: I folded the towel in the middle 90° on my lap smashed the duck down where the towel is folded and wrapped her diagonal from two sides. Worked!

For 45 seconds, just long enough to insert the antibiotics coin. She didn't want to drink after swallowing the pill, instead poked the water-container out of my hand down to the floor.
To apply the eye-ointment, i just grabbed her by the neck and pushed her down to my lap with my left forearm and applied the creme with my right hand. She has Terramycin now on her forehead, bill, neck and ... in both eyes. I don't care, a new package has just arrived in my mailbox this morning… I did not tried to apply the eye-drops: I drip the drops into her eyes, she violently shakes her head and the drops fly back out, right in my face. Oxoflacin eye-drops taste bitter - don't ask how i know…

Tomorrow i will wrap her up in sandpaper! That should have enough friction to keep her in. I will wash the towels tonight without fabric softener and will air dry them. Maybe that helps.
