Good point I can probably put perm. hooks in the vertical parts of the coop and attach blue tarp or plastic on 3 sides as the back will be about 3' from a 6' fence during storms with non-vertical rain.

As of yesterday, I have a tiny flock of two in a small coop that, at max, will hold three hens (per city regulations). Maintenance won't be a big issue, but I felt like I wasted a lot of shavings when I scooped their poop off the poop board this morning. Sweet PDZ sounds like the way to go. Amazon only has 40-lb bags. Hopefully our feed store will have smaller bags. LOVE your coop.

I would just get a 40 lb bag, it is pretty heavy. I think one 40lb bag would give a nice deep layer for a 2x4 area.

Thanks. I think I will. I was reading reviews and some people use it for where their dogs potty the most. We have a cat and three dogs. I'm used to cleaning up poop of every variety! We walk the dogs every day, but they're still out back a lot and they like to use an area of crushed granite that we've set up a little sitting area. In the summer heat, it's not pleasant, no matter how often I hose it down. Sweet PDZ may be the answer for all our critters.

It makes a wonderful litter box solution, either use alone or under clumping litter or over non-clumping.. I have started many friends with a pound or so of PDZ to see if it works for them. It has every time!
