unfortunately my favorite hen petunia (black tail red bantam cochin) was taken by a hawk yesterday afternoon, i walked out to the flock hiding under a bush and a hawk eating petunia:(. this is after burying her, i walked out to a mess of feathers and the hawk flew away. i have locked up the rest of the flock for now and plan to add some netting above them so this doesn't happen again.

i have also attached some photos of her when she was younger. RIP petunia :(

I'm so sorry you have lost your dear little Petunia. What a sweet beautiful hen she was ❤️
It is definitely the right thing to secure the run, because hawks tend to come back. They even find holes in nettings (happened with my friend).

thank you everybody, we are planning on fencing off half of our yard and putting netting over it so they can still roam around but wont get eaten.
