Like rock, rap has so many sub genres, that as one genre dies out another rises up to take its place. So rap is continuing to evolve, but sadly the only rap music that is shown on MTV is the absolute garbage that record execs know that will draw young impressionable kids to listen. The songs about money, women, and cars....
Your totally correct here. I think the industry is the problem, thats what I said before. They force feed it to us and kids and after a while it becomes a staple of everyday life.
You have MTV and BET and VH1 and all this just shoving this stuff down our throats. Geez....
I never said I hate rap or it wasn't the parents duty to supervise their children...I think that is the first priority..But at the same time, I am a practical kind of guy...I know the more the cling the farther the kid will run into the exact opposite of what you wanted..You gotta let your kids be kids too. This means letting them have enough rope until they hang themselves with it , so to speak. Kids have to learn on their own, was is positive and what is negative.
I think alot of people have misunderstood the reason I wrote the post in the first place, I don't know, but the debates have been fun to read.
I am gonna go on a limb here and name some of my favorite artists. Cause I don't wanna seem like an old guy.
