I got my long awaited shamo eggs in the mail from ebay. I wanted to buy from Illia, but shes all the way in the Pacific NW and im here in CT, so I bought some closer. Well they are sooooo porous. Unbelieveably so. They came unbroken and well-packed. Is it worth saying anything? And heres the other weird thing. They're at least 3 days old because thats how long it took to get here. And there is no air cell. The eggs are fairly light, although porous, I should have seen an air cell, right? Whats up with that? Should have bought from Illia.

Yes there should be an air cell but it may yet be tiny. However I would have expected to see one if the eggs are so porous. Weigh your eggs if you can and aim for a total weight loss of 12-15% during incubation. You may have to adjust your humidity to keep the eggs on course for their target weight. Also you may have to keep your humidity higher than normal to compensate for increased moisture loss due to the porous eggs.

Good Luck - Pete
