Penny is such a great, calm chicken. OMG.
She went right on her little roost tonight when the other girls went on theirs, no drama.
I did take her out of the pen though and brought her in the garage and she immediately settled in. She made a little noise when I was carrying her, im the crate, to the garage but that's to be expected. She screamed a few times once inside lol and at first was disturbed when I was setting her up
BUT
I sat out there with her for a bit and she went on the roost and calmed right down so then after that, even when I moved her again when I didn't like the first set up, she just stayed on the roost and didn't care. And I moved her twice. No issues. "It's okay, mom, just what you gotta do". No squawking, nothing. She did try to peck me once when I opened the crate to pet her and say good night though but then she let me pet the other side lol no complaining when I turned the light off and walked in the house, leaving her alone. No freaking when the cat tried to sneak in the garage and ran by (I heard her and nabbed her lol). Nada.
Tbh, I think she kind of likes it in there. It is warmer than outside and it's quiet lol
And they were brooded in there from about 3 weeks old to 7 weeks and from 5 to 7 weeks, I carried them in and out every day and night until we got the pen set up, so maybe she remembers it?
It's funny how calm she is though.
I do worry that the predator might come back for the other girls tonight though.... especially since it won't know I put Penny inside until it comes and checks.
But thankfully Gator is here tonight.
Here are some pictures of Penny all settled in.
