Possible broody

She can roost, it's probably more comfortable than standing. Does she still make her broody cluck cluck noises when you approach her? Or maybe she never did. That's how I tell they are broken because they stop making than noise when I'm near. She should be getting close to being broken, I would see tomorrow.

That's true but she hasn't gotten off it all day I don't think. I don't think she makes those noises but she does talk to me quietly haha she was doing the cluck cluck though but only when I lifted her off the nest. Should I try picking her up and seeing if she makes the noise? She kind of puffs up on the roost but that might just be how chickens roost. Okay, I will test it tomorrow, thanks. So if she goes back to the nest, I put her back in the cage?

Hi everyone, I'm exactly experiencing my first broody hen. She will not come off her nest unless we take her off and we don't have a big enough coop to do the crate suggestion. So do I just keep taking her off and blocking off the nest box. I'm just worried if she needs to lay a egg. Any help would be wonderful

Read thru this whole thread......the answers to your questions are there.
This might not be tho..... if she's truly broody she's not laying.

She's not laid since she became very broody so I'm guessing that is it. I will read through the whole thread later when I have time. Thank you

And then how much longer in the crate after that?

It's raining today so I'm not sure I can let them out but it's not raining very hard and they can go in the woods so I might try when it slows down.

No problem!

If she hasn't been sitting long, just taking her off the nest enough times might work. If not, the other suggestions might help

Or perhaps you can put the cage somewhere else
