That's tough, granny. I remember being very young and we lost a cat in a similar way. It wasn't a very peaceful ending. It threw itself all over the room. Losing an animal is never easy.
 
i dont think i have ever seen one die on its own. just the ones i have culled and i knew what to expect then. this chicken suffered and it bout broke my heart. it truely sounded like it was screaming. i have a lot of her babies but none as sweet as she was. i think, i have a couple of her eggs in the bator right now. i did 27 this time temp. is holding steady and i know for fact the eggs didnt get a chance to freeze. they went in on the 15th.yesterday. i bought a new thermometer w/ humidity reading on it . it says 45 i dont know what it should be. i will have to go look but temp is a steady 100.5

That's great, granny. I put some more eggs in my incubator on the 14th. From that old broody I mentioned. She had ten eggs, and I was worried about whether or not she could handle them with her older age, so I decided we should split the work. We'll see who has more success, lol.
