Possibly being too concerned about duck behaviour?

Back to the garden subject for a minute. I too thought that it was a great great idea to get ducks and put them in the garden. They would take care of all the bugs, slugs snails, worms, etc. That they did but they destroyed my garden.

I think if it is full grown, and you've got nothing to lose it could be good but any young plants will get uprooted, leaves eaten, trampled.

They seemed to do well around my huge tomato plants that were in cages but that was about it. Just watch them if they get in there to make sure they don't wreck it. Maybe I've just got a flock of garden destroyers, IDK?

I'll bear this in mind, thank you :)

I figured it just made me remember that I wanted to ask if my friend actually knew what she was talking about. LOL You are an excellent duck mama and I would never question your abilities! I have learned so much from you and some others on this forum. Glad to get to know you!

Oh I wasn't suggesting that you were because I thought about that too as I had heard the same thing you did. But after watching them I realized that they weren't eating the leaves at all so I relaxed! I think that animals have some kind of instinct that lets them know what is really bad for them, except for screws, nails, string.

I totally agree that they seem to know what to avoid and/or what they need to eat. Except for the stuff us humans leave lying around of course. They are pretty amazing animals!
