OK, then what about round heads, are they brown red? I was at a livestock sale last weekend and the guy beside us had games and he was talking about Kelsos and I believe Round Heads, He has some hens that were wheaten, so I guess those were the kelsos then, and some that were the color of Black sexlinks, black with goldish hackles, anyway, it doesn't really matter, I'm not really into gamefowl, I just wanted to know if that was the brown red color.

Roundheads are also Black Breasted Reds(except for the BlackRoundheads) ....... the list of Brown Reds (often called Blacks as the hens usually come black while some of the roosters will be Brown Reds or Black) is; Sid Taylors , Mugs , Warhoss, Wingate Brown Reds , Shufflers , Texas Rangers , Brown Red Hazzards , Bananza Blacks , Black Roundheads , Black Hatch ....... i guess the list could go on and on as there are a lot of names floating around that are put on birds that fit the description of Black and Brown Red .
Hope this helps ,
Shannon

We don't know what happened there Tommy, when the first on hatched Aubrey said it would have been a mix up from one of his project d'Anver eggs, he said he set 2 phoenix eggs and 1 dAnver egg down, and the dAnver egg rolled over with the phoenix eggs so it was a guess as to which one it was though, but he said that was only one egg, but I ended up hatching two black ones, both have single combs and no beards ( dAnvers have rose combs and do have beards, so that pretty much rules them out) and they have black leggs and beaks, the other phoenix have lighter legs and feet. So we don't know what happen, in his breeding pen, he has 2 roos that are genetically silver, but masked by white, ( they look solid white), and he as white, silver, and golden hens all together with those 2 roos, we don't know which hens were laying at the time, they had just recently started.

So I don't know, this is interesting and I'll be sure to keep you guys posted.

BTW, Toni-Marie said she has Blue Phoenix so black would also have to be possible, just maybe not recognized yet.

Later

Actually there is Blue & black phoenix, it is called Blue. sooooo beautiful. i need to get my hands on that.

Aubrey,

Yes, I have seen those around from breeders in the East Coast but they are not a recognized color for the standard since there is no such thing is a "pure-bred" BLACK Phoenix : )

well to be honest, as for the "standard" silver and gold are the only 2 anyway right? Yet there are 20 or so colors of them in the states.
