Post Phoenix Pics Please

Mine are still in my head, LOL.

I just got some spangled and mille babies and 1 nice male from Toni in the ohiki, one young 1/2 ohiki 1/2 phoenix.
I plan to breed them both ways, mainly for mille and spangled ohiki, but want to use them to start mille, spangled and black mottled phoenix as well.
colorwsie on chicks they should look like a penguin on just a base black mottled, and will stay black and white patched for a while, at a few months old, the mottled d'anvers I have start to loose the patchyness and get the more speckled look. Is the same on all the solid based ones, duns, black, blues that I have. The pattern based ones though dont follow that white patchy pattern as chicks, all depends on what their color base is. But regardless on that, at the 3 month or so age is when they start spotting up for me.

ok, I bred my mottled splash roo to a blue hen... Here is what the offspring look like.. She was a mottled carrier and he was mottled splash.. the babies look like they are wearing tuxedos, well some of them.. Others look like paint chickens.. I was hoping they would come out blue mottled.. So is this what you are talking about? They are basically half blue and half white right now.. The base is E (extended black)

exactly like that Amanda. They should start cleaning up pretty soon for you. If they were from a mottled and a split mottled parent, they should pretty much all come out mottled. That's how I bred my other mottled colors in d'anver.
Size wise, by the size yours are they were already showing the mottled tips, but d'anver to LF phoenix is a big difference.

But you pretty much should have a blue mottled there once it's all done.

That's great.. That's what I was shooting for... Still very young.. That is the oldest one.. The others don't have any feathers but wing feathers.. My mottled dun ko shamo looked very similar when it was small, but now is fully mottled.. I am hoping these will do the same. They are in their first feathers, so I figure when they molt first time.. My millies did the same thing.. Molted into full millie fleur!

yep never cull a mottled til at least it's first adult molt based on pattern at least. I've had some mille stuff look horrid and never would think they'd amount to anything, then after that molt just look awesome. And yep, they usually start like the first pic, then soon look like the ko shamo you posted, very pretty by the way.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL PIC.. Your birds must be pretty tame.. They seem to just pose for you.. Very nice.

Question!
I have a LG incubator with the thermometer...
I just bought a KTJ thermometer... It gives the temp & humidity

LG Thermometer reads 110
While the KTJ reads 99.8

.... Which to choose ?

well you know my feelings on anything LG

But take them both out and let them sit at room temp for a while. You know what you have your house set at. Go with which ever one is closest to your house setting.

I would say the LG is the one off. Would also explain why you werent getting good end results in your hatch.
