Post Phoenix Pics Please

Hey Aubrey and Amanda
Can you two tell me what color these two birds are?
They somewhat look pumpkin too... I'm still confused on their colors

Can anyone tell me what's considered
Bantam and Standard for Phoenixes?

Hi, I got out the standards here so I could be accurate. The bantam standard calls for a cock to be 30 oz. and a hen to be 28oz. The size for standard phoenix is a cock is 5½ lbs. and a hen is 4 lbs. Hope that helps with what you are looking for !

Yep that's true but let's not get another Onagadori argument going like the one from the other night. LOL But yeah, hatcheries don't know what they have and I have also seen the where hatcheries say phoenix can get 25ft long tails, That would would be a true Japanese Onagadori, and even then they would baicly have to be kept in a prison with VERY HIGH maintainance to get the tails that long.
okay I know I shouldnt be digging up old posts but i got to reading the first few pages and I felt the need to coment on this :p

If an onagadori could get a tail that long (im not saying they cant, but its just not common :p ) to have such high maintainance they would keep him basically in a book shelf, with peices of wood seperating him from other chickens, with a lid that closes them in, their tails rolled up and pinned to keep from being broken, food and water (of course) and that would be their life. Japanese do it with a lot of long tails for showing.

yes it's called a tomebaku that they keep them in. and yes they can get close to that length when kept that way, though it has to be a perfect bird.
(I think the main purpose of this quoted post was to inform phoenix buyers that phoenix dont get 20+ foot tails, even though virtually every hatchery out there describes them that way.)

Separate from birds by a board doesnt work though, they have to be pretty much isolated totally. Even hearing a hen can cause hormones to be released which will in turn cause them to molt and not reach those huge lengths. I think Davids boy is up to 10+ now and he's just a little over 60% pure. He has videos on onagadori.net showing exactly how it's done with this method of housing. Might want to check it out, it's pretty neat! I wouldnt call it a prison though, the birds adopt a "that's my territory" attitude toward their tomebakus and are quite happy with them. They are also taken out daily, exercised, feed all sorts of special treats ( mainly for growth, but they dont know that), but in general, pretty much babied their entire life.

which one are you referring to? Yes phoenix have white lobes, but some project lines that have been out crossed may not. Also there are some pics on here for fibro melanistic birds, one is a black cemani birds, not a phoenix at all... so just all depends on which pic you saw.

It looks like I have a trio of silver pyle phoenix from my recessive white rooster backcrossed to his silver mother. The two pullets look awesome and a younger cockerel is mostly white with some slight brassyness on the wingbows like his silver brothers. From my golden pair, I have only gotten 2 golden cockerels, 3 light brown cockerels, and lots of silver pullets which is very disappointing to me. Eventually when I get internet back home, I'll upload some pics
