Post Phoenix Pics Please

theeggbasket thanks for the info on the male chromosomes, I am going to have to get deeper in to the genetics, I just started wrapping my head around basic stuff on genetics & chickens like egg colour & combs & shank colour, I have found out hens with puffy rounded and very cushion feeling cusions tend to produce better sons and also hens that first feather like boys their first year tend to produce good looking boys too. So that is a start on learning what to look for on them.

Your birds are very nice, I saw the Yokos too, nice. I like both breeds... so pretty.

What would u get if u bred a silver phoenix roo to a gold hen?

gold roos and silver hens.
If you want the dark gold versions that have a distinct male and female color, you need to bred to bb red, not silver.

taking them to silver will make the golden duckwing as seen in old English. That is a male color only, females will always be silver.

the darker versions will look just like a bb red hen, except with golden yellow hackles instead of red.
the males are a lot darker as well.

the golden, is yes, the dirty silver look. Pretty much a silver with stained hackles and a red/blueish mix of color in the wing bow/ shoulder area.

the more you go to silver, the paler they will get.

if you want the darker ones, go bb red with the cross

wrong breed I know, just the first pics I can to. This is the darker version male

hens to his right are gold, note the yellow hackles

then if you go silver, they keep getting paler and more silver esk looking like this, this is golden, aka dirty silver, hens are nothing more than silver duckwings. Note the slight stain to hackles and saddles, and the red/ blue areas around the wing
