Post Phoenix Pics Please

None of my phoenix are aggressive or jumpy. They are an ornamental breed and should be very use to people. With a little attention they should be easily handled. Mine get no personal attention and i can still walk in and just pick 1/2 of them. Most of the time i have to watch them so i dont step on their tails. Only had one, once try to pop me. And that was years ago and only once
The cockerel we had was so calm when being examined by the vet, he commented it was like handling a sleepy kitten. The girls like to pretend they are above affection but race each other to get to us first.

Thats how they should be in phoenix. Fairly laid back. There will be jumpy birds in any breed, but phoenix are known for being one of the handelable breeds and fairly laid back. The flighty or agressive ones are thw exception , not the rule.
If i had to guess, id bet those could be traced back to a game fowl cross. Many breeds have been used in thier deveolpment over the years. Most stuck with calm breeds, but game fowl were used by others..

Ours don't mind being near us but will dodge out of the way when epwe try to pick them up. They are coming up on 5 months old and while I haven't had any problems with the Cockerels, I wouldn't call them curtious with the ladies. I hope that changes as they mature. I prefer to see the males do a little more courting before they mate, rather than an attack.

I have a pen of about 15 and i can pick them up and handle them, just takes me a while because they have lots of tall roots and seems like they play keep away with me lol. Once I get them they are calm and don't peck Mr or anything.

About what size/color are the silver phoenix eggs? I got a New Years Eve surprise of a pullet egg today but not sure who gave it to me. It is pretty small but my other layers are heavy breeds so I am not sure what to expect from the girls. Thanks.

Got my first egg today from my white Phoenix
