Post Phoenix Pics Please

Thats a yolk less egg. Bantam phoenix lay a small egg but its about the size of a silkie egg. Large fowl phoenix lay one about the size of a regular grade A store bought egg. Bantams maybe 1 1/2 " long little over 2" on large fowl.
They are smaller than most production layers.

I've heard them referred to as 'wind eggs' or 'fart eggs'. Often when a chicken is just learning to lay.

Yea my phoenix lay pretty big from the start. Mine range in color from lightly tinted to very white. Their size is from medium to large grade AA. Sometimes their aircells are way way to small. Idk why.

Dianne yes it's normal if they are young still. As they grow older it goes away. Usually at about 8mo-1yr it turns full white. I have 5month olds with blue on it still

Well, had today off so I stalked the nest boxes to see who was in. Saw my Sumatra who is a spring hatch and has been steady laying since late October and one Phoenix who was an Aug. 8 hatch.

Got two eggs, both are slightly tinted. The Sumatra is the larger at 47.9g and I am assuming my phoenix gave me the smaller at 31.3g. This will be her second egg. The first one was my breakfast this morning.

I think about 5 months is too young too lay..specially in winter.

I was totally surprised as well. I didn't expect them to lay until around February but I watched her yesterday and she was in and out of the nest box and my son said he saw her push herself under the Sumatra who was in the box and stay there. I took a good look at her face and she is noticeably reader than the others. I guess she is just an early bird..

@bronzefarmer what are you looking to trade in return?
@Puddin Fluffhaha Hey well that's good she us laying. I have one about 7 months old still not laying. She very very soft with rooster feathering.
