Barred blue gold duckwing... Sheesh.. could the name be any longer! LOL. Thanks so much. The girl I am going to breed him to in future, she is that golden color all over her body, but the blue on the wing tips and in her tail. She's so dang pretty. Will get better pics of her tomorrow. I hope. LOL

These are my youngsters. Almost 5 months old.

This is the ugly one... Will it's tail grow out later ?

This is the new man of the farm. He's only 6months and looking great.

Quote: Is that saw dust on the floor ? Was that for the photo or do you keep the ground covered... It looks great, other than that, is it needed ?

haha blue gold crele is a bit easier. I love the blue on the duckwing colors anyway, got the gold, golden, bb, and silver in it and dun here. Look forward to seeing the girl you mentioned too

it's not required but is a must if you want to keep the feathers nice once they start to drag the ground.
not sure if you are familiar with feather footed breeds, but those people are constantly complaining about how hard it is to keep the foot feathers nice, now magnify that into 2-5 foot tails and saddles and imagen what we have to deal with, haha

any time you pen up long tail breeds, bedding is a must if you care about what condition the feathering stays in. saw dust, wood chicps, hay, straw, sand, anything will work, but bare dirt, poop, and especially rainy conditions, well they'll make a mess out of a pretty tail quick.

we've all seen how quick open pens turn into pig pens in the rain, so a roof is actually the most important thing, then bedding.

Thanks. I have feather footed Pekins and I have almost a hundred. Never had the problem, but one third of my pins are roofed. I will stack up some hay for the rainy season. good to know.
