Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

lildinkem you'll have to go another round to see the mottling and who's got the mottling gene, not all will be carrying it or it will be in a single dose on some sort of and not see or look like it has it than it disappears..The birds pictured will loose what you see now..

thats why we have three totally different project going for the mottled and jubilee here. we actually had about 150 birds in all from this particular project but thinned it down considerably now, ahhhh..

However if you keep at it and you hatch enough chicks things will be much better in the end..

Heres about were your at now and what they should look like when fully feathered..

Our BO, Pot Pie, enjoying a few hours out in the run, taken 5/2/10. She's about eight weeks old now.

Worms are her chocolate. It's a hoot when she gets ahold of one....running around like a crazy thing!

Wilds your right. It is more then I would want to do. My focus needs to be on just my basic colors. I doubt I'll have these two too much longer. The idea is a great look on an Orp. Good luck with the next generation and your blacks

lildinkem i think you should keep at it, as you have some good birds there to work with.. i know space can be an issue in most cases, but one must work around that issue..

but to make a new color variety in a breed here in the USA, is so much fun..
of course if one likes to hatch, its a hatcher's dream come true doing these projects along with the standard colors.

I have to admit, I do enjoy the variety you get from this combo. I can see your vision of an Orpington having both the looks your going for. I will take some of my girls to Roscoe in the Aug layin season. By then I should have a full belly full of Buffs to pick from and do something different.

Orpington Coop Question:

Am building a larger coop for a friend's daughter. Need to know how tall your largest male is. Heighth and width. Want a coop door he can walk into. Would measure mine, but they are a bit short still (just 3 weeks old). Thanks.

Note: these will be Terry Britt line Orps.

I finally took pictures of my Bama Babies! It was windy as all get out but I needed to move those big birds out of the brooder! Wow they get big fast! I think they are beautiful.

I am terrible at figuring out if they are roos or pullets and even between the blues and blacks! If anyone can help me out with who and what color they are--thanks! Some are obvious. This first one is a splash. Pullet?

This has GOT to be a pullet--the reason is the NEXT picture.
